Lady of Fire

SHE'S ALIVE!!!!!!!!!!!! Yes, I am alive, thank you very much. You were beginning to think I'd disappeared, I know. And to be honest, its a little bit true. I've disappeared from many aspects of technology of late, and its been the best detox I've done in years!

However, this does not mean I have have stopped reading or that I have completely forsaken my fellow HCR friends and readers. Never! And to prove my point I have yet another review for you, despite the fact that it's been weeks since I've done my last one.

"Tell us, Amber? What book will you rave about now? Who is the author you will acquaint us with?"

Oh, you know her well. She's only the untouchable Tamara. :)

Book Rating: Best of the Best

Before you roll your eyes at me (I see you doing it!!!) and get all, "Yeah, we know you love her, blah, blah, blah..." let me tell you about her latest release and I can promise y'all, you will not be disappointed. Not at all!! (Do you love how I rhymed that? Totally unintentional.)

Lady of Fire is such a unique story--starting out in a setting I have never before read and it really hooked me from the get-go. With fascinating characters and intense action, this book was sure to have me up at night. And it totally did. You are not surprised, are you? *wink*

Lucien and Alessandra are both incredibly strong-willed characters that burn this book up with their, well, their passion. And I'm not talking about bodice-ripping passion (although they are kind of into each other...) I mean passion for their beliefs, convictions, etc.

The first half of this story was really, absolutely amazing!!! I felt like I WAS IN Algiers!!! Oh man, the blazing hot sun, the soft fabrics, the scents of spices. Seriously! I loved every bit of it. The second half changed dramatically when the setting moved continents, but stayed none-the-less intriguing, bringing readers back to the setting we are all so familiar with in Tamara's medieval books.

If you are ready for a novel that will keep you up for hours (not that you have presents to wrap or cookies to bake or anything...) then git'cherself a copy of this one, ladies! Clean passion, tons of adventure, awesome hero--I mean how greedy can you be? It doesn't get better than this!

Now, readers, I'm totally dead serious here. I need suggestions of new authors/books to read. You know what I like!!! I would LOVE to have some suggestions for great reads that will carry me through the holidays!!

AND I PROMISE that once the holidays are over, and once my edits are done I can get back to reviewing more. I just gotta find some good new books... :D

Happy Reading!
Buy it!

  1. Hi, Amber!

Thank you--again and again and again--for a lovely review. You bring out the smiles in me and inspire me to write beyond my abilities. Though Lucien and Alessandra's story veers off my usual path, I'm so pleased it didn't wander so far off that it had you scratching your head and saying, "Eh, where's Tamara?" Blessings to you and yours this Christmas and the new year through.

  3. Dear Amber, I have just started this book and am already hooked at page 5! I am really very excited to hear what your readers suggest...and is it weird that I wish we could be neighbors and chat about HCR all the time? I find very few fellow HCR lovers around here! Two books that I have recently read and loved were Burning Sky by Lori Benton and Paradise Valley by Dale Cramer. They weren't funny like a lot of things you review, but more along the "stunningly beautiful" lines. Kind of like Sixty Acres and a Bride or the Cadence of Grace series. Love them though. How about Lauraine Snelling? I loved her Wild West Winds series...or Lori Wick? The Kensington Chronicles was my favorite. Or The Measure of Katie Calloway by Serena B. Miller? Can't remember if you already reviewed that. All these are my personal "best of the best" lol. I am so thankful for your blog, BTW...it has given me tons of ideas...and an assurance that I am not the only HCR book nerd out there!

  4. I agree!!! I loved this book!! I stayed up late reading it and paid for it in the morning. It was wonderful. I agree with you about the different setting. At first, I was leery but, as usual, Tamara pulled me right in and all I can say is that it ended way to soon. I cannot wait for Baron of Godsmere. Thanks Amber for introducing me to Tamara Leigh and her incredible writing. Kim

  5. Hello Amber! Have you read Dreamspell by Tamara Leigh? Even though I don't usually like time travel books - this one is exceptional! It's as medieval as the other ones. I love it! One of my very favorite romance books!

  6. Swoony sigh! Don't you just adore Lucien? Lady of Fire is up there with my all time favourites from Tamara - mind you, they all kind of wrestle with top spot, right? Great review, Amber :)

Other novels...hmmm...that's always hard. And you may have already read them but how's this list?

You must read Joanne Bischof's This Quiet Sky and Amanda Dykes' Bespoke. As you like medievals, have you read Linda Windsor's Brides of Alba and Fires of Gleannmara series? Linda Wichman's Legend of the Emerald Rose is also fabulous.

    Hugs xo

  7. Hey Amber and Merry Christmas! As usual, your review is right on target! Of course, I'm a Tamara Leigh fan also so she can do no wrong in my book. But she doesn't take advantage of the fact that she is very popular and most readers will buy her books sight unseen. She is tireless in her efforts to produce a first class book each and every time. She truly cares about what she writes and her readers. If you followed her blog about the editing process, you know what I mean - wow! what it takes to write a quality manuscript is mind-boggling! And I am highly anticipating her new series "The Feud" - - how long can I hold my breath? I am a lovely shade of blue ..... approaching violet....lol! It will be worth it!!
And as for recommendations for another author - - I really don't have any for HCR - - although I appreciate the recommendations of Ashton and Rel.
But if you can bring yourself to read something on the contemporary level - - I would highly recommend Charles Martin - - especially "When Crickets Cry" and "The Mountain Between Us" - - I'm not a contemporary gal - - but these two took my breath away.
    Have a blessed Christmas!
