The Longing

I got a fever and the only prescription is more Everard!!!!!! EVERARD!

And, uh, oh yeah--jus' so ya know....

The Longing is THE BEST HCR I've ever read. That mean's its #1. That means it's my favorite.

FAVORITE!!!

(Have I used enough caps for you? Don't worry...there's more where that came from.)

Book Rating: Best of the Best of the Best of the Best . . . of the Best

At 32 years of age, I have finally reached the zenith of my life. I am complete. The Lord can take me now and I would be-- WAIT! Hold that thought, I can't die! What am I thinking?! I need to go back and read this book again. Right now. I want to memorize it. I want to read that kissing scene on the roof over and over until it is burned into my sub-cranium.

Ladies, listen to me very carefully: The Longing is the best HCR I have ever read. Let me repeat. THE LONGING IS THE BEST HCR I HAVE EVER READ!!! It's been several days now since I have finished, and I still can't stop thinking about Everard and Susanna. Best hero and best heroine, like, ever. Isn't that what makes a story? The characters? We don't immediately think of a plot or a setting, we think of the PEOPLE we read about. And the hero and heroine in this book will consume you.

Not that the story isn't completely amazing. Because. It is. The actual story itself is full and rich and deep and heart-wrenching and rounds out so perfectly at the end that believe me, you will not be able to put it down. Ask my good friend Jennifer about how I was in church and feeling totally guilty because I just wanted to go home and keep reading!! I have since repented for such thoughts, but it makes a point does it not.... ?

Now, to the best and sweetest name ever penned.

Everard.

Sweet mother of mercy! That man KNOWS how to love a woman!!! WOO!! The romance in this book will SLAY you. Slay! I have read gobs of these novels, and in all my reading I have NEVER read a more perfectly romantic kissing scene. Nev. Er. The tenderness, the utter masculine perfection mixed with feminine grace and um, longing--AHHH! Not to mention the way the tension builds and how the plot flows so perfectly up to that moment.... Oh my word!!!! Brilliance. Utter brilliance. For me, right now, there is no other author than Tamara Leigh.

I wish I could be more entertaining and creative in my assessment of this novel. I can't. I can't think of any more fun or interesting ways to express how I feel, expect to tell you straight up. This book is friggin' awesome and you have to read it. I, Amber Perry, have deemed this required reading for all HCR enthusiasts.

Best series. Best book. The end.

HAPPY READING!
BUY IT RIGHT FREAKING NOW!!!

  1. After reading your review of the first book, I started reading this whole series and have finished them all in three weeks. Which is actually pretty fast since I have my three kids to take care of :) I agree that this series is fantastic and Tamara Leigh knows how to create some good tension and great plot lines as well. The Longing was excellent! Thanks for the recommendation! Jana

See how well I'm making this about MOI?
Without my influence, oh, and umm, Tamara's writing, you'd be languishing in a Wufrith Free World!

And umm, that kiss? On the roof?

    OH MY GARR.

  3. Umm, clearly I was hacked...

    LOVED this one! Loved it!!
The short but oh so sweet speech the queen gives to Lady Richenda? HAHAHAHA!
Everard is a MAN, and thus, it is understandable to be texting from the *bathroom at church whilst making fake barfing sounds over a perfectly good Kindle.

*she was in her car in the parking lot...after church. I think. At least that's what she said. ;)

  4. Amber, thank you for this last Wulfrith review and every review before that. A hundred times THANK YOU! I don't know how to better express how happy you've made me, so I'm going to hand this over to Everard. "Um, Everard? Forgive me for interrupting all that gazing into one another's eyes, but this is important. Everard, meet Lady Amber. Lady Amber, meet Sir Everard." "Ah, dearest Lady Amber, my writer speaks most highly of you and your--what is it?--ah, reviews. Pray, accept my gratitude and that of my lady wife, Susanna, for your every kind word and deed in spreading the glad tidings of our love. May I kiss your hand?"

I LOVE THIS!!!! HAHAHAHA Thank you from the bottom of my heart, Tamara, for your writing and for being such a kind person to come on here and make me feel special. BLESSINGS TO YOU!!!!!

  5. So... tell us how you REALLY feel. BAHAHA!!
You are evil. Pure and simple. You have ruined every other book for me. I have Wulfrith fever. It's like a fire sitting in the back of my brain annoying and distracting, only to die down if I am reading one of these books. *sigh* Sadly, I am purposefully dragging the reading of these out so it doesn't end so quickly. Thus the fire burns, and distracts. And I'm supposed to be homeschooling my children. Which doesn't work very well when I'm daydreaming in Wulfrith.
*shaking fist in the air* Darn you and your fantastical reviews, Amber!!!!
As for Tamara, I don't blame you for any of this. You just keep on keeping on. PLEASE. We need more. ;)

    1. SUSAN!!! I just laughed out loud. HAHAHA!!! I shall proudly take the blame cuz you KNOW that I'm talking about. Yeah, dragging it out for the "savoring" factor is smart. I tried to do that too. And I TOTALLY hear you about the homeschool problem. So often I would want to be like, "let's watch an educational movie so Mom can read." LOL

  6. Even if I end up hating these books when I get around to them. (Not that I think I will) but I've at least been highly entertained by these reviews!

  7. And the physician's (or healer) diagnosis is in - - - There is now a nation wide quarantine - "The Tamara Leigh Virus" also known as Wulfrith Fever has escalated to epidemic status - - - and beware all HCR readers...... it is deadly....... there is no cure!!! Once you read your first Tamara Leigh novel and enter the Medieval Magic Kingdom - there's no coming back - - nor will you want to!!
Once again Amber, your reviews of "The Kindling" and "The Longing" are SPOT ON!!!!
Mayhap ... if you still desire another midnight ride through this medieval paradise - - then pray give your senses another taste of ecstasy by reading "Lady at Arms" and then "Lady of Eve" - - it will be another "knight" of delight!!!
And may I pose an inquiry of you Lady Tamara - - perchance is there a story of redemption for our prodigal Sir Durand? I would love to see the fair lady who captures his guarded heart.

    1. PAM!!! I LOVE your comments, they are always SOOOO fun! And I'm with you, I REALLY hope Durand's story will be out someday because he is wonderful!!! Thank you so much for stopping by, Pam!! HUGS to you!

    2. Hello, dear Pam! Between Amber and you and the other commenters, my smile muscles are aching. What a day :) Yes, I do hope to write Durand's story--in its entirety--but, alas, the time is not right as I work on my new series, The Feud. I will say, though, that I have the perfect heroine for our Durand, so very different from Beatrix #1 that she can't possibly be right for him. But she is. I wrote the first few chapters a while back so the story line and that initial meet wouldn't get away from me. When will they again see the light of day? Can't say, but I hope before too long. Blessings, all!

More Garr is what we all need ; ) I also want to thank you Amber as I never would have read these books because of the time period. I check this blog daily uumm...please read faster. Kim

  9. My thanks to you Lady Tamara. I will watch and wait and pray for thee. I know your candle burns low and your quill is being worked to a nub. You have much on your plate - so we will patiently wait. I'm sure Sir Durand will whisper in your ear when it's time to pen his story..... and it will be worth the wait.
As to your newest endeavors . . . The Feud........ are there any hints as to the basis for this new series? The time period? Are you ready to divulge any story-line info.?? Or is the town-crier still to be silent at this time and keep us in suspense?
I know I'm being "pushy" - - - I blame it on the TL Virus ..... the fever is raging for more.. more... MORE!!!!
AND - - Amber - - I think it's time for you to also put quill to parchment and gift us with another HCR!!

    ReplyDelete
  10. You are so welcome, Lady Pam. Yes, my poor quill...my poor quill... I so appreciate your prayers as, over and again, I dip into the ink pot and apply words to parchment :) And all the while, Sir Durand sits on my shoulder, sighing deeply as I make him wait. I had better come through for that man!

The Feud is a 3-book (possibly more) series set in 14th century England, so we are leaving the 12th century behind. For now :) The series revolves around three feuding barons who are ordered to wed into one another's families in the hope of ending their 25-year quarrel that happens to be cutting into the king's revenues. The first book, Baron Of Godsmere, is the tale of Bayard Boursier and Elianor of Emberly. And, boy, do these two have issues. But, of course, that's what makes it exciting, hmm? That's all I can say for now. Well, except that I hope to release the book by the end of the year. Oh, and I can't wait to reveal the cover. Talk about swooning! Blessings, Pam!
